On our recent family trip to Mallorca, we stayed at the Club del Sol Resort & Spa and enjoyed a memorable experience at this charming 4-star hotel and apartment complex. Here’s a detailed review of our stay at this family-friendly resort.

Accommodation:

We stayed in a 1-bedroom apartment, which was great for our small family. The living area was spacious, featuring a comfortable sofa and a dining table, which made mealtime easy and enjoyable. The small kitchen, located between the living area and the bedroom, was well-equipped with a 2-pan electric hob, fridge, microwave, toaster, kettle, and coffee machine. A thoughtful touch was the provided sponge and soap for washing dishes, making it convenient for quick clean-ups.

Our apartment also had a patio with a table and chairs, perfect for outdoor dining or relaxing. However, there was a big step from the patio to the main complex of the hotel, so we had to keep a close eye on our toddler!

The apartment and common areas were impeccably clean. Housekeeping did an excellent job of maintaining high standards throughout our stay. Even though there was no housekeeping on Sundays and Thursdays, we were still able to get extra towels from reception on those days.

Pools and Facilities:

The resort boasts multiple pools, including dedicated kids' and baby pools. The kids' pool is particularly delightful, with slides, fountains, and various play items that would thrill any child. However, it was a bit too loud for our 1-year-old, so we opted for the quieter baby pool, which was just right for our needs. We visited in early summer (May), and there were plenty of sunbeds available, ensuring a relaxing poolside experience.

For adults, the hotel offers numerous relaxing areas. The luxury sunbeds next to the Terrace bar are perfect for unwinding, and the gym and spa provide further opportunities for relaxation. The adult only spa, with its large jacuzzi pool, sauna, steam room, and cold pool, was a highlight for us parents seeking a bit of pampering.

Kids Club and Entertainment:

The resort also features a kids club for children aged 4 and above. Younger children can join in the activities as well, provided an adult stays with them, which is a great option for families with toddlers.

There is nightly entertainment in the bar, but we didn't attend any of the events. Something to be aware of if your child is a light sleeper.

Dining:

We didn't try the on-site dining extensively, preferring to explore local cuisine in Puerto Pollensa. However, the Terrace bar served refreshing drinks and light snacks, which we enjoyed by the pool.

Location:

The main downside of the Club del Sol Resort & Spa is its location. It’s a 45-minute walk to the centre of Puerto Pollensa, which can be challenging with young children, especially as the initial part of the walk lacks a pavement, making it less safe for families. However, a convenient bus stop is located right outside the hotel. From there, you can catch a bus to either Puerto Pollensa or Alcudia, making it easier to explore the area without the hassle of a long walk.

Recommendation:

Given the hotel's location, we highly recommend hiring a car, especially if you have young children. There was parking available at the resort. A car provides the convenience of exploring more of the island at your own pace, making day trips to nearby attractions much easier and more enjoyable. Having a car allows you to fully experience the beauty and variety that Mallorca has to offer.

Conclusion:

Overall, Club del Sol Resort & Spa is a wonderful family-friendly resort with excellent facilities and comfortable accommodations. The multiple pools, kids club, and dedicated adult relaxation areas make it a versatile choice for families looking to balance fun and relaxation. While the hotel's location might be a challenge for those on foot, the nearby bus stop and the option of car hire offer practical alternatives for getting around. For families with young children, this resort provides a delightful and convenient base for a memorable holiday.
