Must-Have Travel Toys for One-Year-Olds: Suggestions from Our Family Vacations ✈️🧸

Traveling with a 1-year-old can be both an exciting and challenging experience. One of our secret weapons? A dedicated toy bag! Keeping little ones entertained during long flights, train rides, and bus journeys is crucial. Here’s a peek inside our toy bag and some tips on making travels more enjoyable.

Our Go-To Travel Toys
  1. Stacking Cups Stacking cups are versatile, lightweight, and easy to pack. They’re perfect for building, nesting, and even as impromptu bath or pool toys.

  2. Magnetic Building Tiles These tiles are fantastic for sparking creativity. They’re easy to stick together and pull apart, providing endless building possibilities.

  3. Wooden Sorting Blocks Our wooden sorting blocks come in different shapes, colours, and numbers. They’re great for stacking, sorting, and learning. Our toy bag has holes on one side to match the sorting blocks, adding an extra layer of fun. Unfortunately, we lost the number 7 block on one trip, so keep an eye on all the pieces!

The Travel Toy Bag: A Hidden Gem

One key tip we swear by is keeping the toy bag hidden away when we’re at home. This way, the toys remain a novelty, making them extra exciting when we pull them out on holiday. This bag doubles as her carry-on for long-haul flights, ensuring she always has something fun to do.

Adding Extra Toys for Each Destination

There’s always a bit of space left in the bag to add a few special toys tailored to each holiday destination.

Amsterdam Adventure 🚗🌷

We brought along her favorite wooden cars. Unfortunately, one was lost on the bus back from Keukenhof. A valuable lesson in keeping a close eye on beloved items!

Majorca Magic 🐝🌞

This time, we took her pull-along buzzy bee for exploring the resort. Thankfully, it safely made it home with us.

Fidget Spinners for Train and Bus Rides 🚆🚌

For shorter journeys like train and bus rides, fidget spinners are a fantastic addition. They’re great for sticking to windows, providing both entertainment and fascination. As with the other toys, we keep these hidden until we’re on the go to maintain the element of surprise.

Traveling with a Toddler

Traveling with a toddler is always stressful, but a well-prepared toy bag can help make it easier. With the right mix of toys, you can keep your little one entertained and make your family adventures more enjoyable for everyone. Happy travels! 🌍💼
